WVIZ/PBS ideastream® host Rick Jackson spoke with Laurel Domanski Diaz, COO for Neighborhood Family Practice to learn more about how congressional budget cuts will affect community health centers like Neighborhood Family Practice.

Lawmakers in Washington struggled to pass a spending bill by February 8 to avoid another government shutdown.

Among the issues up for renewal: funding for community health centers, which care for an estimated 26 million, mostly lower income, Americans. These centers, which expanded under the Affordable Care Act, need to be reauthorized or lose federal funding. The community health centers have been waiting for reauthorization since September 2017.
