May 2007

Neighborhood Family Practice received a grant from Neighborhood Connections, a program of the Cleveland Foundation, to fund the development of a garden in the parking lot outside the Ridge Road health center!

Kate Thomas, MS, is lead staff on this project. She is excited to begin and promises some exciting improvements to this green corner of a vast parking lot!

Some of the garden-related activities will:
Educate patients and community on the gardening process
Create an outside community space for "Fun in the Garden" activity days
Generate fresh local produce to share with patients and staff!
Teach all who take part in creating the garden about the power of working as a team to improve our surroundings

Our goal is to spread this message to as many individuals as possible and to increase average fruit and vegetable consumption and enjoyment!

The garden will be located in an empty corner of the large Ridgeway Plaza parking lot. Thanks to Dave's Supermarket, Brightside Academy, Arnold Lee, and Neighborhood Connections for their collaboration to help fund this exciting project!
