Ercira's Story

Ercira Haize is proud to announce the arrival of her new baby boy, Willy Alexander Haize, Junior, born September 23, 2007 with the help of NFP’s Certified Nurse Midwife, Susan Greene.

Born in the Dominican Republic, Ercira moved to Cleveland when she was 12 years old. She became a patient at NFP when she suspected she was pregnant in January of 2007. Ercira stayed with NFP throughout her pregnancy, receiving all of her prenatal care with Susan. Ercira states:

“Throughout my pregnancy Susan encouraged me not get an epidural, she believed in me and told me that I could manage the pain on my own. I was in labor for 26 hours and Susan was with me, supporting me the entire time. I did not need the epidural because she encouraged me and I knew that the pain was temporary. Susan was very patient with me because I screamed a lot! I am very happy with my experience with Susan and have encouraged my friends to have their babies with NFP too.”

Ercira now brings her baby for its well-child visits at NFP and      continues to receive healthcare services for herself at NFP as well. She knows that if she has another baby that she would like to work with NFP’s Nurse Midwives again. When NFP Nurse Katy Maistros asked Ercira to speak with another Spanish-speaking patient who was anxious about her labor and delivery, Ercira happily agreed to share her pregnancy and birth experience with her.
